Once Upon A Junkyard | Jungkook & Reader | Chapter 2 |
Chapter 2
The whole week had been pouring. Only the soccer players seemed to enjoy it. And maybe the people with earphones.
The last bell rang. Y/n was the first one to change in the locker room and the first one to leave. She didn’t want to deal with Chin Su and her gang. Once she changed and grabbed her stuff, y/n headed out of the locker room and made her way back home.
There was a constant challenge y/n would have every day of her life. That was transportation. She couldn’t ride the bus. Most of the buses would never drive toward her area. Even if the bus could drop her off, her parents wouldn’t be able to give her money every day to use it.
Y/n spotted her bike through the heavy rain. With a deep breath, she sprinted towards it and quickly began to head home before the thunder began.
By the time she arrived home, y/n looked as if someone had poured a bucket of water over her. Her clothes were drenched and so was everything else.
“Good thing I brought a plastic bag for my stuff inside.” She muttered as she parked her bike and headed inside.
“Mom, I’m home!” She announced before heading to her room.

Once he was dropped off at home, Jungkook headed straight to his room. Just as he crossed the big dining room, he heard someone call him.
“Jungkook-ah.” He stopped walking and sighed deeply.
When he turned around, he saw his mother at the dining room’s entrance. She smiled at him before walking into the dining room again.
“Come see me for a bit, son.” She said sitting down on one of the chairs.
Jungkook followed her inside and sat on the chair in front of hers.
“Are you hungry? I can call-“ His mother said turning to call one of their house servants.
“I’m not hungry.” Jungkook interrupted her flatly. He sighed softly and hung his head down.
She turned back to face him while moving aside some files and her laptop.
“Jungkook-ah, your last year is about to end in a couple weeks. Your father and I have been talking about some options for you.”
Jungkook lifted his head to meet his mother’s eyes. It was true. His high school life was coming to an end.
Unlike many, Jungkook was born into a family with high expectations and responsibility. Both of his parents came from very respected families and him himself was seen as the “Golden Future” of the Jeon family.
“Since your high school life is coming to an end, and you’re basically an adult now, I expect that you understand the responsibility it takes to be part of this family.” His mother said while opening her laptop.
“This weekend we will host a dinner party. Your father and I think that this is a great opportunity to seek someone who will take the burden of displaying our family name.” Jungkook’s eyes stared at his mother sharply baffled.
“What did you say just now, mother?” Jungkook asked his mother with a dark voice.
His mother looked up from her laptop’s screen and raised an eyebrow at him.
“I said, that we are hosting a dinner party to see what is available to you.”
“You don’t mean you are looking for someone to marry me off to, are you?”
His mother scoffed irritated. Her eyes returning back to her laptop screen.
“Honestly, Jungkook-ah, don’t even get worked up. You knew it would happen sooner or-“
Jungkook stood from his chair and stared at her enraged.
“’Don’t even get worked up?’” He repeated sarcastically. His mother shot a look at him.
“Quit it.” His mother said in a warning tone.
“Honestly, did you even consider my say in this?” He asked a little calmer. His face muscles relaxed from their clenched position.
“You will have a say.”
“Will?”
“At the dinner party.”
“Mom!”
“Stop it, Jungkook-ah!”
“How can I stop when you are literally taking control of my life? Of my choices and decisions. Do you even consider yourself my parents by doing such a thing?” His mother stood from her chair and stared at him angrily.
“You better stop, Jungkook-ah.” Jungkook walked towards her and shook his head.
“You were born into this family. And in this family marriage comes along with business. And business comes along with success.” His mother said to him.
Jungkook scoffed while shaking his head.
“I never asked to be born into this family!” Jungkook said raising his voice. There were tears behind his eyes.
“Jungkook-ah,”
“If there is one thing I resent the most, it is to be born into this family.”
Tears slithered down his mother’s eyes. With all her strength, she smacked Jungkook across the face.
“How dare you say that?! How dare you say that to your own mother?!”
Jungkook clenched his jaw and walked away from her.
“Where are you going? Where do you think you are going?!”
Jungkook dropped his backpack on his way out of the house. He ran as fast as he could. He didn’t know where he was going. His head was flooded with thoughts.
Jungkook was so enclosed with his problems that he hadn’t even realized how hard it was pouring outside. As he ran, tears mixed along with the large rain drops on his face.
Soon enough, his body began to grow tired. His legs were becoming number with every step that he took.
Jungkook eventually stopped. It was already beginning to get dark. The rain hadn’t stopped.
When he looked around him, there weren't really buildings. There was more land and he was walking on a dirt road.
He had never been around the area.
“Where the heck am I?” He asked himself while doing a 360-degree turn.
Up ahead, there was some sort of abandoned place. Well, it looked abandoned to him, at least.
Jungkook ruffled his wet hair exhaustively.
“I’ll take shelter around there until the rain stops. Then, I’ll call…” He felt his pockets for his phone.
They were all empty.
“AH!” He shouted frustrated.
“I guess I’ll have to walk back.”
As he got closer to the abandoned place, he realized what sort of place it was. There was a lot of stuff. Mostly metal.
Jungkook spotted a nice enclosed spot with a thick sheet of metal over it. He ran towards it and took shelter under it. He sat on the small, dry patch of soil that the metal sheet covered.
As he waited for the rain to stop, he sank in his thoughts.
His parents wanted to marry him off.
His parents wanted for him to take charge of their business.
But…
He didn’t want to marry. At least not to someone forcefully.
He preferred to follow another career pathway.
Jungkook ran his hands through his moist hair and sighed heavily.
As he thought, he heard splashes. His eyes opened and looked outside his little shelter spot. His heart nearly jumped out of his chest.
There was someone holding some sort of thing in their arms.
“Aish! I really hate when he brings things out of nowhere!”
It was a girl.
Jungkook watched her as she placed the item somewhere. All her clothes were drenched. Her hair was a mess too.
Once she had placed the item down, she began to make her way back. As she walked back, her foot got stuck in a deep puddle making her trip. Her body landed harshly against the floor and a loud crack sound echoed. Jungkook gasped.
“Ah!” The girl shouted in agony.
Jungkook cursed at himself before running to her. Her face was down. Mud covered her clothes. Her hair was all over her face.
Jungkook decided to check her foot first. Since it was dark, he couldn’t see much. Nonetheless, he decided to pull her foot from the thick mud puddle slowly first.
Y/n felt warm hands on her ankle despite the chilly water and mud it had been dipped in. With the pressure that was pressed on her ankle, she felt the stretching agony all the way to her hamstrings.
The pain was so unbearable it made her cry.
Once her foot was out of the puddle, someone slowly turned her around. Her vision was somewhat blurry. The opaque night didn’t help at all. Although she knew she was being touched by a stranger, she was too weak and hurt to move.
“Are you alright?”
“W-Wh…” Her trembling voice spoke. Every movement she made pained her.
“Don’t look down. You’re in terrible condition.”
That just made her want to glance down. Just as she was about to tilt her head down, the person cupped her face and turned it towards theirs.
Y/n couldn’t see his eyes through his long, wet hair. But she could see his lips. They were moist with the water droplets over the surface of his plump lips.
Y/n’s eyes became heavy. Her body was slowly shutting down.
“No. Don’t sleep!”
“Please don’t sleep!”
His voice slowly drifted off.
